Fungal Treatment
Unsightly, uncomfortable and unhealthy, toenail fungus is a condition that brings many people to my service. Fungal nails are identifiable by white spots on the surface of toenails, yellow/brown tracks at the end of the nail, similar tracks extending up from the cuticle or crumbling at the nail edges. At their worst, they can cause total destruction or deformity of the nail and may spread to other toenails or may spread to the skin of the foot leading to athletes foot. If it’s something you know – or think – you’re suffering from, I'm here to help. My patient-focussed approach to foot care and the problem of nail fungus means that after assessing your nails and talking things through with you, I recommend the treatment I consider to be the best for you. Many people find fungal infections spread very slowly and are completely painless. They are very common in active adults and the older person population. I will determine whether you are suffering from one of the following forms of fungal infection:
● White superficial onychomycosis
● Distal lateral subungal onychomycosis
● Proximal lateral subungal onychomycosis
● Total dystrophic onychomycosis
I can offer topical medications (lotions or creams which are applied directly to the affected nails), which you can also use daily to help control and treat the infection.
